Mini moon jars
Moon jars were historically made in Korea out of porcelain, thrown in two pieces and used to decorate the Imperial Court or homes of noblity.
I’ve given this traditional shape a modern makeover throwing a mini form of the vessel and glazing it in my signature glazes: microcrystalline white; a soft marshmallow; a sea-green and a pale duck egg blue.
Their curvy shape is often associated with fertility and women; i find it a very pleasing and beautiful shape.
They measure around 8.5cm tall with a small foot and could be used to show off flowers or to be appreciated for their beauty.
I have scratched into the form to create an interesting and subtle surface for the glaze to break over.
I hope you enjoy these forms as much I have enjoyed making them.
